Default Thunder Racing cam in a 4.8L?

Would a .561-lift Thunder Racing cam with a 112LSA be too much for my mostly stock 4.8L? I'm assuming that a cam that large would probably require converter/gears/headers etc to be really effective. Any thoughts?

whats the duration on that cam? they have a few different cams. even if it was the 218 though that would be a huge cam in a 4.8L. if you want single pattern go with like 210 or 212 duration for how small that engine is

the cam that i think would work really good in a 4.8L is the 206/212 .525/.525 on a 112 lsa. its a comp cams grind.

Gear and converter...a must. Probably at least a 410, and a 3000 stall to make it work well.

I think that it's a 224/224 duration. It says on TR's website that computer tuning is req'd on automatics. Would that mean LS-1 Edit?

You better do some valve and spring work with that too.

Do any of you remember the ford X303 cam? And the poor idle quality and total lack of lowend torque that cam offered? Now imagine putting that cam in a full weight truck with minimal mods rather then a light mustang with heads, longtubes, dual 3" exh. and a 4:10 gear.

Just a thought but do any of you see where I'm going with this?

I think Greg's cam choice is much better at 218/218.

Thanks everyone! I thought that was WAY too much cam for my app, but I wanted to make sure.

The only reason I was even considering the cam was because a friend of mine is building an LS-1 for a '91 Chevy pickup and this was the cam that he was going to use...that is until he decided to go with a <gulp> twin turbo setup! He's getting the LPE turbo cam, beefing up the bottom end, the whole nine yards! It's going to be one sick truck!!!!! I'll keep everyone updated...should be done in a couple of weeks! BTW, he said that he would sell me the cam (brand new!) and install it for $700. I thought that seemed like a pretty reasonable price.
