Default Thrown Code - Options?

Hi all,
Check engine light came on this morning during a 1st gear pull heading to work. Truck wasn't warmed up well yet. Anyway I don't know what code has been thrown. I don't have access to anything to read it. Have to take it to the dealer. I suspect its related to my header install. I've read several posts that said uncoated headers would throw an O2 code from time to time. If so why is that?

This may be a good excuse to go ahead and purchase a tuner. I pretty much had at one time made up my mind to tune myself and decided HP Tuners was the way to go. I can at least read the codes and reset them and play with shift points and transmission stuff until I learn how to do a bit of tuning I'm thinking. My question is will I be able to use the tune that came with the Magnacharger as a starting point. Is it locked? Would I have to re-flash the factory tune and start there? If a tune is locked can you change things like shift points and read and correct codes? Do locked tunes lock the entire PCM or just sections of it?

TIA for any info.

I think you can get the code read for free at AutoZone.

Yes, Autozone and most national parts shops will scan for free. If you go the software direction, HP Tuners has the scanner included in the price where LS1Edit charges extra. Both tune with excellent results, I really love my HPT.
The Magnacharger tune should not be locked. However, many folks on this site are returning the ECU to stock and custom tuning for the SC. Can't remember off hand who has done this but you can even post on the software sites for help.
