Default How fast are the little bolt-ons?

I have a friend down the road with a 02 scsb 5.3, An he has all the little bolt-ns; K+N intake, HPPIII, pullys, E fans, shorty headers, single chamber flow, an G80, 3:73 rearend. An he seems to think his truck is going to run some really low14s. I keep telling him that he wont get that low of a time without some other mods..
But im just courious what do you guys think his truck would run with his bolt-ons?

There are alot of factors. In a lightweight truck it's possible. Some of the guys are running 14.9s stock. So take a very good DA. Some weight reduction and all those mods and a 14.3 or so is totally doable.

Not common mind you, but doable.

I am guessing 15.1 at like 87 mph. does he have stock rims and tires? if it's really cold he can probably get down inthe high 14's but their is really no telling.

He just needs to run it and find out. I found out there is too many factors when trying to determine ET's. When I found out there was a naturally aspirated 12 sec 5.3 I thought B.S. But I saw the video, and I believe. Most of its all in the driver. Threre are 15.6-14.7 scsb's out there stock.

HARDTOP has run a 14.6x in his regular cab short bed....STOCK. I've also raced another local guy with a GMC 5.3 who was right there with me. I only beat him by like half a truck on the second run. I think a reg. cab short bed with little bolt on's and a converter COULD run in the high 13's under good conditions. They really seem to haul ***, especially the 2002's and up.

My 99 ran 16.5 @ 81.7 mph on a 92*, humid frickin day, with stock internals, K&N FIPK, Gibson shorties and duals, spare tire in, heavy-*** Pace Edward's Jack Rabbit tonneau, and BFG 285's at 45 psi. Damn slow.
I'll be happy if I'm into the 15's with my current set-up, once my PCM's KR issues are ironed out. I'd like 14's, but then again I'd like alot of things...

I think it is possible with those mods, but like onequick5.3 said, there are too many factors to do a guessing game. just run the bastard
