Throttle sticking?
#1
Lately, when I take off easy from a stop, it feels like the throttle is sticking. Mostly happens in colder weather and it is bugging me because it gets pretty jerky. Is there any fix for this or has anyone had a similar problem?
Thanks for your help, Kent.

Get some carb cleaner and get the carbon buildup out of the throttle body. The first time that happed to mine I had it replaced through the TSB out on it. It came back last week and that is what I did this past weekend to fix mine. Smooth as can be now.
*edit*
Will you have carbon build up on yours being it is on the intake side of the compressor?

When I removed my throttle body to do the bump stop mod I noticed the butterfly rubs on the inside of the throttle body bore causing it to stick just as you begin to crack the throttle open. You don't notice it when you rotate the throttle with your foot via the cable, but when you have the TB on the workbench it's obvious. If you add some carbon buildup to this you could get some heavy duty sticking. I hand sanded the butterfly and the inside of my TB bore to get rid of the problem. As far as carbon buildup you can eat off of the inside of my TB bore since I BYPASSED my EGR. It's a method I came up with thru trial and error. It doesn't set a DTC because the EGR still works except that it flows clean filtered air instead of dirty soot filled exhaust gases. I'd like to spread the gunk that comes out of the throttle body from the EGR on the pancake the EPA employees eat at Wafflehouse for breakfast.

Hey 99 stepside,I have a 99 silverado also.I believe there was once a recall on the throttle body having a stiff place in it.I took mine to the dealer and they replaced it for free.Might be worth checking on.
