Ok, what exactly do they do or help do?

I know the poweraid ones make a whistling type sound but dont help performance much. Im just looking for a xmas gift someone can get me <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

are there any cheaper ones out there than 100bucks??

 

like you said they're rather pointless unless you want the look and/or sound. find something else you want. have them buy you some good oil or something you can actually use.

 

Expensive paperweight. I have one, but the only reason I still have it is because I spent the money and don't need anymore paperweights.

Get a set of MSD or Taylor plug wires or gift certificate instead.

I may just put a set of pulleys on the wish list instead
