my stanley lawn tractor pulls the front tires off the ground with 93 octane but not with 87

they are junk. only reason to have one is to instal a wet nitrous system.

Well,what about the fuel line magnetizer...that's as good as a Radix for sure!

Their must be more to it than just that. The ability of a fuel to resist detonation is measured by its octane rating. The octane rating of a fuel is determined by matching it against mixtures of normal heptane and iso-octane in a test engine under specified test conditions. The test continues until a mixture of these pure hydrocarbons is found which gives thee same degreee of knocking in the engine as the gasoline is being tested.
The octane number of the fuel, then, is the percent of the iso-octane in the matching iso-octane normal-heptane mixture. The octane number of a fuel has nothing to do with its starting qualities, power, volatitlity or other major characterisitcs. If an engine operates satisfactory with a fuel of a certain octane number, its performance will not be improved by using fuel of a higher octane.
