Default Throttle Body Slowness

I noticed when working on my intake that my throttle body opens really slow, but shuts fast, me and my buddy have the same trucks only difference is his is an 05 mines a 06, his opens fast as hell and shuts quick too... ive now seen 2 different 05s and another 06 like mine, both 05s open and close fast but both 06's open slow and close fast,at 1st i thought it was gummed up and dirty so i cleaned it but that didnt help at all..

so what gives? did they change the design for 06 or something?

Thanks in advance

maybe the 06 is bigger and doesn't need to open as fast to let the same amount of air in.

There is acutally a table in the computer that regulates how fast/slow the DBW TB opens... It can be adjusted to a certain extent, but personally I would not touch it.... I am at work right now and don't have access to my tuning stuff or I would post up the table for yall to look at.

Hmm okay , yea none of the 4 DBW trucks i looked at are tuned, all stock but both 05s are fast and both 06s are slow open fast closed, Jaegmc99 was talkin 2 me about it and the only thing we could come up with is maybe for 06 they have it that way to try and save gas mileage and or so it doesnt launch so hard off the line and break traction

Like I said the reason why one opens differently than the other is because of the Electronic Throttle Control Response Table. I downloaded an 05 and 06 tune for a 5.3 (L59), the tables are different between the two, no clue why GM did this but they did. Below are the differences.... The table below shows the relationship between the gas pedal and Throttle Position....

I hope that helps....
