Default Throttle Body Bypass Kit

I'm doing some research and was wondering if any of you have ever used (or are using) a Throttle Body Bypass Kit. I found one for around $17.00 and was considering buying it. Any comments? Any noticable gains (at all)? The company boasts a 6 HP gain but I'm still skeptical.

I plan to install it on my 4.8L

Thanks,

GatorFan

17 bucks?!?!?! If indeed you do need hardware for this, you can buy the hose cheaper at a hardware store. On my 2003 SS, I didn't even need to buy any hose to bypass the TB, the stock hose was long enough to reroute it. Took 20 minutes tops and was free...

Reroute for free, I bought the kit it went to the round file. And 6hp. I think they left the decimal point out .6 maybe. I did it, and would do it again for free, but I didnt notice anything.

I just used a small peice of stainless pipe I had lying arounnd in the garage and 2 vacume block of ends and 2 wire ties. It worked great. ZO6 instead of the fluid runing threw the tb you just use the pipe to connect the 2 hoses togather....

on the bottom of the throttle body is an inlet and outlet which a small hose flows coolant through. Looking at the throttle body you take the right most tube (inlet) and connect it direct to the outlet (so completly bypassing that hose from the tb). All you need really is some extra hosing and two ends that come with that kit your talking about.

It honestly doesnt help much, but it will keep the throttle body a bit cooler.

ill try and get some good pics for you if you need it.

Yeah, if you can do it for free or maybe a dollar or two go for it, don't waste your money on a kit. It's worth almost nothing performance wise, but hey, can't complain much if its free or $1 or $2.

5/16 brass barb will do the trick. 3$. theres plenty hose there to just unhook em and connect em. do it with the engine cool!(learned that the hard way)

it's alot easier to do if you take the intake tube off to... just go to the hardware store and tell them you need a hose coupling 1/4 or 5/16 will work and there sould already be some hose clamps on the hose.

Either way guys, unless you did a before and after dyno run with or without the bypass, you will not feel 5-6 flywheel HP gains.
I doubt it even gives you a gain, but who knows.
