Default Thread bolts on Alternator Bracket

Hi guys,

I feel like this is a stupid question to ask, and I didn't know where else to ask it. I have a 2004 Yukon Denali 6.0 with a Procharger D1 kit. The truck has been spitting serpentine belts off left and right whenever I launch it hard. My tuner said that he thought it was because of the alternator moving around and i should try and put some washers behind it to keep it from moving. After the last belt throw, I pulled the alternator off and there is a bunch of wiggle room where the bolt goes through the alternator bracket. (Video Included)

My question is, is the alternator supposed to be threaded or not? It looks like there are threads in it but they are worn down and not grabbing the bolt at all.

Thanks.

The alternator is not threaded, the accessory bracket has spacers that self align when tightened. Once the two mount bolts are tight the alternator shouldn't move at all. Do you have any pics of the bracket?

Thanks for letting me know. I will have to get some pics whenever I go home tonight.

Does yours have the spacers in it. See the front holes?

It shouldn't move then. Laser aligners are great. I set all my 8 rib pullies with mine and no issues, noises etc.

That's what I thought. Might borrow one of these and see where it could be off at.

Thanks for the help!

Stock tensioners are known to flex and toss belts if you were still using one

You have been more than helpful to me today lol. Yes, still stock tensioner & 6 rib configuration. The belt that was on it was extremely tight as well, so if it came off twice than the stock tensioner might not have enough to keep it together. It only tossed it if I launched it about 4K

The alternator is not threaded, only the back of the bracket is.

The procharger bracket itself tends to flex when you get on it hard as well... I would bet that is lending itself to your belt issues.
