Default Thoughts on the Texas Speed 220 cam

Hey guys I have a 2002 silverado ext cab short bed 1500 with the 5.3, Longtubes, Intake, electric fan swap, tune, 3200 stall, built transmission and I am looking at the 220r cam kit from Texas speed...any thoughts on this cam? The specs look pretty good and it looks like having the somewhat smaller duration will increase torque which will be needed it scoot my big extended cab along... How is top end power with this cam? Anyone with similar builds will be of big help

It was a great cam 10 years ago that made excellent power when it was designed. Better choices exist now days. Spend the extra $20 and go custom grind.

I have basically the exact same set up.. I have the circle d 3000 stall, 220r cam, and 4.11 gears sittin in my living room waiting to install... ive heard a lot of great things about this cam... TSP said the powerband starts to kick in at 1,200 rpms, which is great for big heavy trucks like ours, mine is an 06 ccsb on 20x12s and 32s, i'm super heavy lol another reason i went with 4.11s

You got everything you need for this cam long tubes and a 3200 stall 3.73 works good with this set up,,, not sure what u mean by rebuilt trans but if you have a 4l80e you good with a 4l60e you need a really good rebuilt kit to handle at least 450 hp to be safe and a really good tranny oil cooler i did the cam first now i just need to install my long tubes,, 3200 stall and retune my truck but true next time i will go with a little bigger cam but im ok with this cam. Tr220 or a bigger cam u gonna be happy

Its a great cam all around cam. I spun mine all the way to 7000rpm! Not that I recommend spinning it that high, But it pulled real good from 3000rpm up to about 6500rpm. It's a good match for your stall.
