Default Thoughts on a cam

Currently I have a '03 ecsb 4.8, 1 3/4 long tubes, 3" ory, cut out, cai, Tuned by cal speed(they're local), and 4.10's with a g80 in the rear. The truck runs pretty well for having 150k miles stock trans and stock motor with 22 inch wheels and 265/35-r22 tires. I am wanting to do a decent size cam and a circle d 3200 stall to really wake it up since i cant afford a turbo kit right now and 6.0's are over priced to say the least here. The cam I had been looking at that seemed like it would be a great fit based on specs after doing research on the different parameters and what they affect is the Comp cams SUMLSGT100 (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/c...t100/overview/).

Does anyone have any experience with this cam or know anyone that does? What is everyones thoughts on it for a DD street truck with a 4.8? Any clue what kind of numbers i would make with the listed mods and the cam stacked on top of it?

Thanks for any advice in advance.

I had one very similar in a 5.3, it was 218/224@.050 .564/.581 lift on a 110 LSA, sounded awesome, but was a bit flat below 3500. From there to 6400 though, it screamed. In a 4.8, I would probably look at at least a 3600 stall and maybe 4.30-4.56 gears. That cam will probably peak at 65-6600, so rod bolts become a good idea.

Here is what mine sounded like at idle, a 4.8 will be even choppier.

1 3/4"x3" long tubes, 3" off-road y, single in dual out muffler, TBSS intake, 90mm throttle body, CAI, springs, pushrods, 3000 stall and 4.10's. It made 330rwhp on the Power Tour dyno.

I eventually had to put the cats back on it to pass inspection where we went TDY, but I don't have a clip of it with them back in.

TSP 220r .600/.600 on a 112 with a 3000-3200 gets my vote.

The 216/222 camshaft would work decent in you application with the planned torque converter swap. I definitely wouldn't recommend anything larger for your 4.8.

Would you just not recommend anything larger for a daily driver due to idle issues?
