Thoughts on this cam in 5.3L?

Let me start off by saying that I'm wanting to gain some nice torque if I were to swap cams. I also want to keep stock programming. Believe it or not, I tried this baby cam in my '98 T/A back in '99, and it didn't gain any HP over the stocker. It did, however, pick up an additional 15 RWTQ at peak. The stock '98 cam had .500" lift with 202/208 duration. Who knows what I'd gain over the stock '01 cam (been told it's 198/197, .478").
Crane cam: 208/216, .500"/.500", 114 LSA
More than anything, I'm really wanting more low-end and mid-range torque. I have 3.73's, FWIW. My T/A ran out of breath past 6k with this cam and a set of CNC heads. I think it would work out pretty well! thoughts???

Honestly, that looks like a good choice. Will be on the mild side. Will probably idle and run like stock.
My LS6 runs great w/o tuning. Yours will have less lift, and a tighter LSA. That should help you out on the torque side, and give you a nice HP boost.
Specs for the 2001 LS6 cam are 207/216 on a 116 LSA and 525 lift.

If its a cam you already have I'd say go for it. If you have to buy it again, I'd go for a tad bit more. This coming from the guy who has a 234/242, .539"/.558" 112, sitting in front of him and not sure which car to put it in!

Yeah, I know that Jason 98 TA had the '01 LS6 cam in his 5.3L for a while, and it completely killed his bottom-end power. Thunder offers a Comp Cam with 206/212, .515"/.522", 112 LSA that shows a powerband of 800-5800 with excellent low-end power. I think the 208/216 cam will make more power at peak, but the 206/212 will definitely provide even more low-end grunt with the 112 LSA.
