Default for those of you with your cats off?

I recently took both cats off so I could disable the COT feature in edit and man it is way too loud now. I have a dual catless exhaust system now with 1 3" in and 2 2.5" out spintech muffler. The spintech is 13 inches long. But the problem is that there is so much resonance inside the cab it is almost undriveable. Especially around 1800 rpms. Everything is rubber mounted so I am not sure why it is so loud inside the cab.

So- For people without cats what are you using for mufflers? Should I just get a longer spintech? Put some resonators in? I don't want it to sound like crap either.

you can put bullet mufflers i believe a foot in front of them in line and it is suppost to help but i have no first hand experience with that.

i am running longtubes with 2 3" dynomax mufflers i believe turbos or something dont remember hell that might not even be one. anyways it is just loud and not realy any resonation unless i am in a parking garage. then it is unbarable

I have a 1 chamber and the resonance isn't that bad, it's loud as **** outside though. I am installing a true dual setup with magnaflow x pipe and 2 .5 pipe into 2 1 chambers.

I originally had a true dual setup with 4x9x14 Magnaflow mufflers dumped with cats that was nearly perfect. Once my cats started stopping up I decided to remove them completely. When I did it got over twice as loud. I recently had two bullits put in between the x and existing mufflers that helped a good bit but it still isnt as nice as when I had cats though. I have some droan on acceleration when there is a load on the truck but it is fine on the interstate till I get over 80 then it starts up again (more load).

Are you dumped behind the axle or are you running pipes??

I have a dual flowmaster setup w/ no cats and dumps and mine sound great (IMO) but I have been told that if you run pipes it will tone the sound down a little, especially in the cab considering the exhaust is exiting out of the pipes at the end of the truck rather than the dumps underneath it.

Keep in mind, I might be wrong... but I'm sure you can ask a guy at an exhaust shop who can help you out, or someone else here should be able to.

mine are directly underneath. I have about 1.5 of pipe coming out of my muffler and it dumps down about 8-12 before the axle. I can't wait to finish it off, trying to clean up the sound some.

get a turbo, that will quiet it down some

sorry to hear of your troubles, i think you saw the muffler on my garge floor, not the factory one but the dynomax one or whatever it is. i had a pair of them on my last truck, they were the largest case muffler i could find.

it wasn't too loud at all, at idle it was quieter than my truck is now and at wot a little louder, cruze was bearable.
