Thinking about going to larger rim and tires, what will it do to my performance?

I like the looks of the rims that come on the 2WD Avalanches, they're 17" with 265/70 tires. I'm looking to fill in the gap in the wheel wells some while still keeping a basically stock look (I like to go for the sleeper look). I currently have 255/70R16's and they are exactly 30" tall. The 265/70R17's are 31.6" tall, I used a gear calculator and this would effectly change my 3.73's to 3.54's. How much low end would I lose? Would I gain top end? Since I'm starting to have traction problems, would this help? Any thoughts?

They will: slow you down and lose gas milage. It increases rolling mass too. Bigger is usually heavier too.
Maybe you should just toss some wider tires on the back for the traction problem.
Height will slow you down, width will too but not as much.
Hope that's not too confusing..
On another note, does your Magnaflow resonate between 1800-2200rpms much?

Those rims are not much heavier than your stock ones. Get those all-terrian tires off of there and they should not hurt much.
I like the 17 in. Z71 tahoe rims better, but that is just my opinion.
