Default Think I may have found part of the problem

Been running real rich lately, and the computer just keeps dumping more fuel regardless of what I do with the tune..
it will run fine for a day after I flash it, and then it's right back to not wanting to idle, and die.
So I took my headers off tonight, and found that I had an exhaust leak on both headers at the collector..
in the process of cleaning them up, and then I need to find me
new gaskets..
the original header on the passenger side came with a crush gasket..
anybody know where I can get one?
also what are you guys using as gaskets.
and what would you replace them with?
thanks,
Daniel

So the O2 sensors were seeing fresh air then, huh. Good luck.

Talking

buy new headers instead of them wheels. and how much tension was on the headers when you removed the exhaust. mine sprung over about an inch when i removed mine. i would think the autoparts will have those gaskets by now. if not the dealer will have them.

Original gm exhaust manifold/header gaskets work great.

now these gaskets are for the collector right, and not the head side?
I need the collector gaskets.. my crush ring is pretty much useless

Are you talking about stock exhaust manifolds or aftermarket headers? By the crush gasket statement, I'm assuming you are talking about stock manifolds. That copper ring that fits in the groove on the stock collector? If so, I'd try a GM parts department and see if its available by itself.

When I put my last truck back to stock, I think I just cut a plain 3-bolt flange gasket to fit and snugged it down. It may have leaked, but I couldn't hear it over the rest of the patchwork exhaust leaks.

You have shorties don't you. OEM parts is the way to go anyway. If you have 3 bolt collectore, I have had good luck with the lead/metal off the self ones from Autozone. They have held for 3 years now.

well I went to Momument Chevrolet, and bought 2 gaskets.. one donut crush ring, and one donut ring
worked real good. I am pretty sure I took care of my exhaust leak.
sounds much better now..
It was hard to hear the leak with the loud exhaust
thanks guys....
