Default There is a light at the end of the tunnel!!

Just talked to the machine shop, that has had my block, heads, and rotating assembly for my 408 since October. He told I should have it back in mid April! Yea!!

Now, befor you all start saying I'm crazy for letting it take so long. You have to understand that this guy is one of like three machine shops in town. And he is the only one that is known for doing high quality work. So anyone who does a high end or custom engine around here, takes it to him. Plus, he is a one man show. And he told me up front it would not be done untill spring.

I was just excited to hear the time for the build is drawing near and needed to share!!! I was in no hurry to get it back, it gave me time to do more saving and research on parts.

Awesome, its always good to hear from the guy building your engine. What are your goals for the build?

Ya know, I just want to go a little faster. I've gone a little overboard, but I conviced my wife it was cheaper to build an engine to replace the semi tired 5.3, than to replace the tahoe with a lower mile newer one. So I guess the main goal to make the wife happy.

Nice. Yeah a one man show sure does take a long time but its worth it. My unlce rebuilds engines here in town. He turns out an engine every 1-2 weeks and usually has 12-15 in his shop at any one time. I don't know how he works on 5-6 engines at once, but he does. Does a damn good job at it too. Since he is the only one that touches the engines there is a lot less chance for mistakes. Plus every engine is personally blue printed by him, and then sold with a one year unlimited mile warranty.
