Get in contact with Comp Cams... I know they cut cams for all the 4.3's... porting those stock heads and adding a marine intake manifold and ported/polished TB will wake that thing up plenty.... is it an auto or 5spd? I didnt read the whole thread

warranty?? whats that??

yes they will... if you crack that motor open, say bye bye to any kind of warranty... but these things will not hurt the realiability of your truck if installed correctly. A higher stall aftermarket torque converter will make that 4.3 feel a little stringer too out of the hole. Your rear needs 3.73's or 4.10's as well depending on what you are comfortable with.

I'd bet that if they catch on that you're cammed, you warranty will be voided. I doubt they'd ever notice ported heads.

But IMO, I'd tune it and leave it alone. Any other money spent on it is kinda wasted IMO.... But this is coming from a 4.8L guy lol

Everything is base But I thought it would be a good starting point to start moding with
I understand perfectly. That's how I got stuck with a 4.8. Good luck and enjoy the modding. Believe me, it is addictive.

BTW about the warranty. Usually if things are going to go wrong, they will do so early on. I would hold off doing any actual mods for about 3 months. This would be a good time to do planning and purchasing. If nothing breaks by that time you are probably good to go.

honestly if you are concerned about having a quick truck, you should try to trade for the same thing only in a v8. i went from a 4.3l to a 4.8 in the same truck configuration, 4.3 was base model and 4.8 is LS trim( power everthing) and i cna tell ya, the 4.8 is MUCH faster just stock much less modded, and it also has many more mods available and will be more reliable at the same power level

no offense but where I'm from we have always refered to what your wanting to do as "Polishing a turd"

Just save until you can swap in a V8, don't blow money on the 4.3.

Sure one can make a shiny turd to be different, but if one really wants to go fast then spending money on a 4.3L will just slow progress down by wasting money that could be better spent on more engine. jmho
