Default TBSS Intake Manifold and 90mm TB

I read through the "Intake" sticky and couldnt really find my answers so I will have to start a thread -

What my plan is with my new 6L build is to swap in the TBSS intake manifold and the 90mm TB - there is a harness converted that i found that makes this possible for the older harness plug to work the DBW with the new TB....so my question is will i fit and what sort of gain is there over the stock truck intake and 78mm TB? I have found both the intake and TB for the TBSS on gmpartsdirect that are relatively cheap, so i was thinking if it fit, thats what I will do.

The SSR/TBSS intake manifold doesn't flow much (if any) better than a stock intake manifold. The only benefit is being able to run a 90mm TB, but I don't know if that actually gives any performance gains since the manifold itself doesn't flow any better.

i know what you are saying - i just wanted to run the 90mm TB, but if the TBSS intake isnt any better at all compared to the truck one with 78mm then its not worth it. I guess my thinking is with the 12mm differnecne in the TB there has to be some gain i would think. If the case is "no gains" then im going to put the stock intake back on...

BTW Thunder what ever happened to that black stepside you had?

Well I guess I can't imagine that GM went to a 90mm throttle body for nothing, but the flow tests that I have seen show the 90mm truck manifold to be almost identical to the 78mm truck manifold. I don't think you'd hurt anything by swapping, and if the TB is actually the restriction then you might pick up a little bit. Who knows if it would be noticeable or significant.

What black stepside are you talking about? This is the only truck I've had while I've been on this site. You might be thinking of 01thunder....that's a different guy
