You will here from both sides saying do it and don't do it... There are pretty much 3 results that could happen from doing this. 1 It won't make any difference, 2 you will get a slight SOTP difference, or 3 you will have shifting problems and pinging problems.. I really don't think there is much of a gain if you remove the screen and don't have any problems, anyways the screen is there to straighten the air so the maf can read it acurately. Personally i wouldn't do it

A buddy of mine did his 02 sc sb and for some reason he was blowing up trannys. Put another stock MAFS in it and no problems. There was a tech bulliten on it. Something of the sort of running a cold air intake and descreening the MAFS would cause the line pressure to increase to much and was blowing trannys. I guess with the cold air intake and descreened MAFS, it was ****** with the ECU. Thats why he put a new one in it.

The maf is used in shift calculations, that is why it is touchy to k+n filters that are over oiled and de-screening them

Leave it alone, I like a idot thought there would be a differeance if I did it. Then I bought the Superchips programmer installed it, then I decided to descreen it. It was fine at first but after a month later everytime it would shift from 1st to 2nd it would slip to the point to were I had to take my truck to the dealership and under warrenty have it rebuilt. Like I said before it will only cost more in the longrun
