I accidentally damaged my screen the other day when swapping air filters, so I removed the screen. No difference whatsoever.

That you notice.... probably not. Willing to bet if you logged data before and after you would see it.. and really your fuel trims can be more or less pinned one way or another and the average guy would never really know. They install straightening vanes in flowmeters with inadequate upstream and downstream piping requirements. But no, you probably won't feel a thing.

This.

It is a common "free mod" in the fbody world. Very very few actually have problems and the ones that do probably were careless and damaged the sensor itself.

Very few modded fbody cars have a screen.

It takes 3 seconds to do and is free.. If it really was worth 5HP, you wouldn't do it?

Look at most f body air intakes and then take a look at a trucks. Therein lies your answer as to why modded fbody cars may not have a screen.

Shameless self promotion time! If anyone descreened their MAF sensor and regrets it, I have a stock one with screen intact from a 99 Silverado that I'll sell for $30 shipped.

have always run screenless and no issues. i see it as more of a restriction and will take the added airflow cfm any day regardless if the gain is minimal....
