Default Supercharged. Chevy 5.3L L33?

I have a 2006 silverado L33, 243 heads. The L33 has flat top pistons and an aluminum block, a compression ratio of 10:1, would it be smart or safe to put a supercharger on with the high compression and aluminum block? Theres not much info that I've ever been able to find about the L33's. Anyone have dyno numbers of L33's? Any modified L33 dyno numbers?

The L33 likes boost. It's all about the tune.

What are your goals?

1 of teh very 1st Radix installs on an L33 wayback in 2005 with 5,000 miles on teh truck
268rwhp/289rwtq stock L33 NA 5,000 miles bone stock
362rwhp/360rwtq 3.5" pulley gave 7lbs boost Radix with Powertrain warranty tuning and Corsa catback for only mods
387rwhp/396rwtq 3.4" Non Radix self tuning

You arent going to have any more issues than you would running an LM7, sure you have an extra 1/2 point of compression, but also a fully aluminum engine as well. The L33's LS6 like ports flow very well and will work very nicely with boost. If you had a stock LM7 and then a stock L33, you would notice more boost on the LM7 and lower boost oin the L33, much more power from L33 engine. Boost is only a measure of restriction and certainly not hp.

Good luck, have fun. And as mentioned, its all in the tune. The above highest power combo was done using HPTuners and a guy that had never tuned before. He had zero knock.

Thats the same compresion ratio as the LQ9, and there are countless SSS with boost.

Also worth noting that the LS2 is an aluminum block and runs almost an 11.0:1 compression. People throw boost at those with great luck too.

The higher the compression the more important tuning becomes. Avoiding pre detonation becomes a little more tricky.
