Default Summit Racing Catback

I thought about using the catback system by Summit Racing. Has anyone used this system before? How is it? Did everything fit ok? I am going to just use the pipe since it is mandrel bent and just put my magnaflow in line with it rather than the Summit muffler. I think I will just have to cut the pipe to length some to make it work.

Oh, The reason I was thinking of using it is because the muffler shop here wants $220 to do my system in 3" and I can get the summit system for $150 and its the same kind of pipe but mandrel bent.

Any of the summit brand parts I've gone with I've been very happy with. All they do is take another companys part and put their name on it so they can keep the price below what the manufacturer will let them sell it for. If you talk to there tech line they will probably tell you the company who makes it.

I have the summit cat back on my 93 c1500 v-6. It sounds alot better then I thought it was going too. I just needed a cheap exhaust to pass inspection and it was far beyond my expectations. It fit very well and it looked nice.

I don't know how well it will sound on an 8 cyl. But it makes the 6 sound nice with the cheap muffler.

...can you post a picture of the system from the cat to the muffler? I was wondering if there is a straight section I can cut about 5 to 6 inches out of so I can fit this kit in to my Tahoe. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the Summit Kit on my truck and put a Hooker muffler in place. It worked well, although I did not expect to have to cut as much as I did. There are definately some straight pieces that have to be cut out to make it fit as it comes extra long. The Hooker had the oposite offset for in/out than the supplied muffler, but I still had a couple inches between it and the frame rail. The tail pipe piece seemed a little long, but I welded on a nice tip. I know I had more straight pieces to cut out if needed because I wish I had cut more off of the over the axle piece than the pipe in front of the muffler.

I was thinking about getting the summit racing catback too, and changing the muffler out. though, I think I heard that the summit mufflers are dynomax which have good mufflers, I just never heard a dynomax on these trucks...
