Question Suggestions on a cam for a 6.0L

I need some help on picking a cam for my SS. I don’t want it too crazy but I do want to put down like 450hp if thats not too crazy. Anyone have any suggestions or any ideas from cams that you have or seen on trucks?

I started with 216/220 in mine, now I am on a 220/224. What are your plans? Stall, exhaust, etc? Is it 2wd or awd?
The 224/224 is real popular, makes good power. It will most likey need a stall and full exhaust to get the most out of it.

Im going to do Pacesetters with the Y-pipe, no cats to a magnaflow 4'' can, a Yank stall converter, TNT nitrous kit, and heads. it's a 05' 2wd SS. so what cam do you think would work with all that and what would i need to run it (springs, ext.)?

I don't think you need a Y pipe unless the newer SS has a different exhaust. The SS has dual to the muffler from the factory. The headers are a good start. If your gonna get a stall I would say 224/224 or somewhere in that area, I would use the Comp 918 spring. How big of a shot are you going to spray?

I just checked my exhaust and I am going to need a Y pipe because the headers are going to go all the way to the cats which I taking out and connect at the muffler so im going to need the y pipe. I’m thinking of spraying about 150 shot but im not going any higher than a 200 shot. One big thing is that i dont want to blow my motor!

450rwhp should be very easy to reach with what your wanting to do. I just have a 6.0l with bolt ons and nitrous and i pulled 472rwhp.

216/220 would be my choice if it were mine.. i have a 210/218 in my truck now, but if i did it over and had a 6l i'd shoot for a 216/220ish cam and a 3k stall

It has a single pipe going into the muffler?

I have the pacesetters on my SS with no cats and you do not need the y pipe. I bought the pacesetter ORY when I bought the headers and I had never looked under the truck. The headers will go back as far as where the cats used to be and you just need to make the bends on the drivers side and straight back on the passenger side. Do you want to single the exhaust from the headers back? Your muffler should be dual in/single out.

ya I took a better look and your right I don’t think ill need the Y pipe but how will I take out the cats and connect the headers right up to the existing pipe? and I want to keep the stock muffler and have it dump in front of the back wheel, is that even possible or will it be a huge pain in the *** to do? How is the idle on the 216/220 and the 224/224 cams?
