i would do a 6.0 but the fuel mileage just goes completely out the window.

oh contrar 4.8 that labors gets crappy mileage. My vmax gets 16-17 long trips, depending on the position of my right foot. Correct gears engine size and driving habits make all the difference.

i get no less than 15mpg pulling a 20 ft car hauler fully loaded with either my show truck or a full load of atvs out of the 4.8. it will get right at 21 on long trips. my buddy has scsb with ls1 and hes still getting like 19 with full bolt ons and he drives the **** out of it.

before you can even think of putting in a LS1 . . . you have to get the 58 tooth reluctor wheel. (not on LS1s) . . . so either take out the crank from a newer 5.3, then get the assembly reballanced with the crank. . .

or get a 58 tooth welded onto the ls1 crank . . .

you can't just "drop in" a 5.7 into your 07

or get a 6.2 and rock it with the 58 tooth wheel that it already comes with
