Default sucky performance?

I want to buy some 22 inch rims for my truck. I understand that I will lose a little performance because of turning that heavy wheel, but my friend told me that he thinks from going from my 18" to a 22" would make a 1 second in the quarter mile loss!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> I thought maybe 2-3 tenths? But I'm just guessing.

How much affect does the weight of the RIM make on performance? I really want the looks but don't want a WHOLE second gone!

I think there is some unofficial formula about rotating mass. Something like every pound on the wheel is worth 2.5 pounds. Do if you add 20 pounds to each wheel, thats 80 for all four wheels. Times 2.5 makes it like it weighs 200 pounds of dead weight.

I don't think you'd lose a whole second. You can buy some lighter weight wheels and may be a little better off.

Centerline makes some 22's that only weigh 21 lbs. each. That is lighter than your stocks. they cost more than regular chrome 22's but you get the looks and you don't lose the performance. Worth the price in my opinion if you absolutely gotta have 22's. They also have 20's that I believe only weigh about 18 lbs.
