Stuck between 4x4 cams...

I know this probably has been discussed a million times before but my next mod is going to be a camshaft. I really would like to use a Vinci cam (and 1.85 Rockers). I talked to Joe Vinci and he suggested their 080 (210/218 .551/.551 116 LSA). He stated since I do not want to lose much if any low end and I want to max out around 6000 RPM (or so) that this cam would be great. What I really like about this cam is the lift and with 1.85 rockers it would be very close to .600 on both the intake and exhaust. I have also been looking at the 044 cam (210/218 .531/.531 114 LSA). This would more than likely move my power band up some but would it be worth it? Would I notice much of a difference between the two of them? I just cannot make up my mind on what I want. Street power is what I am looking for. Idle quality is not of much concern. Emissions needs to be passed and I need to be able to use my truck as a truck at a moments notice. I just do not want a cam I am going to have to rev high to make me move. I also would like a cam that will match my mods (and long tubes whenever QTP comes out with theirs so I can decide between them and Stainless Works') Any input would be greatly appreciated.

You need to realize that the 1.85 rockers also increase duration not just lift. If you want nice low end torque then get the first one and dnot use the rockers. I have a ecsb Z71 and I had a 222/224 112lsa in my truck with a 2500 stall basically was suppose to be 3400 but thats another story and it had no ***** down low. If I was worried low end then I would really want the 210/218. You wont be dissapointed and if Joe recommended it then you will be happy he knows his stuiff form what I have read abotu him on ehre everyone who ahs done what he said was happy with the results

The Ultra-Torque (080) will idle fine, I have one with the 1.8 rockers and the idle doesn't lope at all. I have a blower too, so I wouldn't be able to give you a good idea on what to expect from a N/A motor, but I have gobs of low-end torque. I was very happy with Vinci though, I will tell you that much. The rockers were a PITA to get right, but it was worth every penny IMO.

For ever full point of rocker ratio you increase or decrease the cam duration by 2 degrees.
The LT4 Hotcam (GEN1) is rated with 1.6:1 rockers and has numbers of .525/.525 218/228 if you use a 1.5:1 rocker those numbers are .500/.500 216/226.
Rocker ratio changes more than just the lift, as stated above.

i have the 044 and im very happy with it.. i lost a tad below 2200rpms.. and i mean a tad. But that might be from the no cats also!
as far as feeling a difference in the 2 you shouldnt. The 116LSA will idle better. You can barely hear my 044. With open pipes it soudns awesome, but through the muffler you can hear a slight non stock lope. The 116 LSA one probably will sound like stock.
with either cam, a 2600 stall would be a nice addition though so keep that in mind

i just put a vinci 062 cam up for sale. https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...38#post3272138
here's what it did in the wife's car. i already had the 1.8 accelerated lift rockers on the car before the cam. the wideband reading is misleading as it wasn't working properly.

I have been trying to do research on all sorts of cam for these trucks and what I have found is that not many people have done cams in 4x4. A majority of the cams people install are in trucks that are 2WD. I did however seem to find that most people either bought or seriously considered the Comp. 212/218 cam (low lift) and some have bought the high-lift version. All who used this cam claim to have more power throughout the power band, a decent idle, and great drivability. I think I am going to really consider a cam in this range (i.e. Comp 212/218 Low and High lift, Vinci 080[210/218 .551/.551 116lsa] Vinci 044 [210/218 .531/.531 114 LSA] Vinci 047 [210/218 .531/.531 112 LSA]) I think any one of these cams would work but not it comes to what I want most. Good idle and low end or sacrafice low end and idle for more mid-range. Any opinions would be appreciated.

If it was me I would get a 212/218 high lift that would work perfectly with your 2600 stall. I have been there done that with the cammed 5.3 and the comp IMO would perfect for driveability and power.
