Default STS Turbo or Procharger

I bought a 00 Tahoe with a lot of engine mods. I'm considering going with a Sts rear mount turbo or with a procharger. I do have 10.6 to 1 compression which is a little high. It runs well but its not a screamer. I would love to be able to have a low 13 to high 12 sec truck. I do a lot of towing with it. Here is a list of mods on my truck. The truck dynoed at 310 at the wheels

PERFORMANCE UPGRADES
6.0L Lingenfelter 415CI/420HP drivetrain ($20,000) with lots of pull.
Bulletproof transmission by Rossler – recently rebuilt
AEM intake, Corsa catback, Borla headers
NX nitrous system installed but never used (show vehicle)

SUSPENSION UPGRADES
Eibach swaybars
Air Ride rear H/D air springs
Ground Force lowering kit
22" chrome rims w/295 Toyo tires in great shape
Rancho adjustable rear shocks

Frankly, with 10.6:1, I'd stay away from FI. You have an NX system already. I'd use that.

I'm taking the NX kit off the car. My local procharger dealer told me it would not be a issue but I would have to run 7 pounds or less and pull a lot of timing out.

your only getting 310 rwhp witht hat setup. I would be pretty pissed after spending that much money on it. stay away from FI.

Depending on the cam and the chamber size of the head, you may be able to change the heads to a stock #317 casting and lower the cr, then go with the FI. It would be kind of wrong to do that to that motor though. I cant imagine what would cost $20k and only get you 310.
Naturally I am partial to the STS. Way easy to install and priced well. Makes great power.

I only paid just over 20k for the truck with all the mods. If I was to spend 20k on those mods I would have been upset. It would be a shame to take the heads off and that is not a good option. I have had a procharger on my Camaro and it had over 10 to 1 with a steel head and it was fine.

all I a saying is with a 10.6 compression and a 415ci their is something wrong. My truck a stock LQ9 will put down 280-290 rwhp. this is on a 10.1 compression and 364 CI. I am jsut saying it sounds like their is some funny stuff going on their.I would however pull the heads to lower the compression and put on a sts and probably change the cam for boost applications. What are the internals like inthe engine(custom pistons, valve sizes, cam ETC) .

The truck was built in the 2000 and 415 at the crank is not a lot. I think they built it to tow and be a mild street motor. The interals are lunati crank and rods and forged pistons. I do not have the specs on the cam with me. The heads were ported by them also. I'm leaning toward the STS kit and then spending some time having someone tune the thing.

Sell the heads and you can pick up a set of 317 heads for a little over 300 bucks. You already have a forged bottom end and a good tranny. I would get an STS kit with a upgraded turbo. Put an IC on, up the boost to 12-13 psi and you would be around 550-600 to the wheels.

550 to 600 sounds like a lot of fun. I will try to find out what they did to my heads and the cam thats in the truck
