Default STS Guys...type of tailpipe?

So what is everyone running?
What did it do for the sound, get quieter?
Did it help or hurt low end spool up?
I've been thinking about using my stock tailpipe for that "Still stock" look but am torn between that and a custom stainless tailpipe.
Lets hear your suggestions and see some pics.
Oh ya Weedo I saw your post about the duals from the sts back, cool!

I have the stock tail pipe, It sounds good, not loud at cruising speeds and idle, but pretty loud when you floor it. But i've been looking at Weedo's setup. Looks nice and sound good.

Thanks guys! As far as sound, the way I set mine up, it's louder. More of a deep, bassy loudness. It was definitely quieter before, but didn't sound cool, just ok. I think a single-out setup would be nice too. It would be quieter than my dual setup, but probably wouldn't sound "cool". You wouldn't get the back and forth rumble from two pipes. You could do a single out with a huge 5" tip like the diesel guys!

I ran a 3" Y-Pipe out to twin 3" pipes all the way back. My tips are 3" tips that have been slightly ovaled. I don't think there was any change in power anywhere. I wouldn't think there would be much if any restriction in something like this.

Let us know what you end up with!

Eventually, I'm going to get a pair of Oval Vette pipes to come out under the liscense plate box of my roll pan.

I kept the stock tail pipe. I like the way is sound. Nice and throaty around town, and I can barely hear it going down the interstate, unless I stand on it and then you just hear the sound of the wastegate open and air rushing out. Its very stealthy!

Nice! I'm curious about the cutout... If you're running back to a 3" tailpipe, there shouldn't be any restriction. Why do you need a cutout?

I just ran a magnaflow muffler about 2' from the exaust housing and a turbo down right off the muffler. It actually helps low end part throttle spool believe it or not. And it quiets things down significantly. It kills the whistle noise though.

I made my own with a 3" flowmaster series 10 race muffler. It's loud as hell.

Weedo, anything after the turbo will affect the turbo, so using a cutout at the track "will help max performance"

I don't have a turbo but I repalced my stock pipe from the muffler back over the axle with a stock pipe off a duramax shaortbed- 3-1/2", I even used the factory hangers. I figure you could do this after the turbo and not loose any power.
