O.K. Here is the deal. I have A 00' 5.3 with true dual exhaust.
I can not make up my mind if it would be better to have the exhaust shop put my exhaust back to stock so the STS kit will bolt up. If I go this route I worry the exhaust will bind and result in a cracked manifold or leaky exhaust.
I could buy a non OEM cat. And exhaust "Y" assy. for 300$, but I'm now worried the cats. wont flow like the OEM or even fail and take out the Turbo.
The local wrecking yard won’t sell me the exhaust, and OEM cost way too much.
So do I take a chance with the exhaust shop or buy the non OEM assy??
Keep in mind I'll need to take an extra trip to the Exhaust shop to fit the STS pipe on properly. And the truck has 80000 miles on it.
I know, I worry too much,
I just got to have the truck done before April.

You could go with a custom mandrel bent y pipe and retain the stock cats, you could also have them build whatever you need to work with the STS exhaust parts. Could be pricey though, but so is an aftermarket y ($300) and cat back ($300+).

Seriously though, it should be done tomorrow. I'm not sure they have any of the Meth in so I may be running around on 5psi for a bit. I believe they're going to put the AIT sensor (is it the AIT?) in a different spot so that it can read what boost setting it needs. I'll have to get more detail on that one though...

Weedo - I think you are referring to the IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor. It does not read boost but has to be positioned to accurately read intake air temperatures. If they get too high it can lead to a lean A/F mixture and detonation AFAIK. This would not be good.

Anyway, it's almost done. I think just the gauges are left (tomorrow), then the Tune (Monday). The guy who's doing the tune is off racing Fri-Sun so I won't get it back now until Monday.
Can't wait!!
