Default STS > 5lbs boost

Just got the truck back....BUT nothing more than 1/4 throttle. I got the Gt-67 kit with a planned base boost of 5lbs. Guess what im getting, and this is with the high boost off.....12-13lbs, WTF!!!! Everything is up and running but we dont know why that bastard is spooling up so much. The installers believe I need a larger wastegate and a BOV. I tell you what though, at 13lbs that SOB is BAD ***!!!! Oh yeah got the cats gutted and no muffler, its kinda loud Dont know how long ill be able to take it, but that turbo does sounds sweet!!!
So until i hear back from STS I have to be gentle, such a tease!

Any of you other STS guys ran into this issue or have any ideas that might explain why im getting 13lbs when I should be getting 5lbs?

Check the wastgate diaphragm for rips.

cool, i just talked to Adam @STS and he thinks its just a minor re-hosing issue. I'll go take a look in a bit. Thanks!

Better get that boost under control soon!
I got a new wastegate from STS and it cured my problem.
I was seeing 11psi and smoked my trans in 2 weeks of controlled driving.

LOL

You nut.. You better not get into the throttle much or you'll be buying all kinds of new parts...

This is great reason why people should never buy a turbo kit without a boost guage!

Or get on it a lot and order that 408 like you want... It's a perfect excuse -- "Honey, my truck broke!"

Then you don't have to mess around driving into deep puddles at 13psi...

Over boosting is all about the waistgate not the BOV. (You dont even have to have a BOV for the turbo to work) The waistgate is not getting the right signal, be it a diaphragm or a vacuum line issue. Either way its not a big problem or a hard problem to fix.
