Default Strenghtening stock rods and crank?

Just out of curiousity, is it posible to have the stock rods and crankshaft from an engine strengthend to withstand more abuse if there is no aftermarket rods/cranks?

You can have the crank polished, treated, have the rods shotpeened.. Peeing the stuff takes all the strees out of it.. However unless you plan on making 700+ hp with it, the crank is fine.. Cranks have been in 1000hp setups with no problems..

Atomic has a point, how often do you see a broken crank?

Years ago we used to bake the rods. Put them in the oven at 400 deg and bake them for 6-8 hrs. If you look is some old Peterson Hot Rod Chevy build books they had pics of them going into a kitchen oven.
