Default stock cam shift points

im fixing to get a retune from allen. last time he suggested shifting 2nd at 5800 but it feels like it pulls good all the way to 6000. just wandering how you guys set up the shifts on your stock cams so ill know what to go with on the next tune.

right now 1st shifts at 6000
2nd at 5800
3rd at ????(never got there but had it damn close to 6K once)

my mods are listed in my car domain if you need them.

does it not hurt anything to move your rev limiter up that high?

I have a buddy with a 5.3l sierra. and he shifts his at about 5700-5750. Mine are at about 5900-5950. He can pass be when he hits 2nd but when I hit 2nd I pull him back. So I think I need to turn my down just a little bit.

1-2 should be around 6000 and 2-3 should be around 5800 just like allen said.

on a 5.3L (00' and up) with a stock torque converter i usually run them to 6200 for the 1-2 and 6000 for the 2-3. if the 5.3L drops back too much on the shift it just gets doggy.

yes... and no.

I mean, if you move the shift points to like 7 grand than probably you'll have some problems, lol. But moving it up to like 6000-6300 or so on stock internals (stock rods and rod bolts, stock pushrods) is do-able w/o causing any damage.

And probably what your talking about with your friend passing you is the fact that you have 4.10's so you probably need to shift a little earlier since your on a stock cam with that stock power band... sorry if that doesnt make sense, lol im kinda sleepy.
