I don't buy it about china... I would need to see documentation to support that fact. I have seen cams go bad because they weren't heat treated right but Have never hear of the cams being manufactured in China...

I believe India is the latest place to offer bulk discounts on cams. A friend in the cam business was approached by these people and they will grind any spec but you have to order a minimum 10,000 units to get the deal. From there you can have the blanks ground to any specs.

So dude buys a junk yard engine...and is surprised that it had a very short life in his jeep. Who knows how many miles it had.

It would be nice to know the details of this.
It honestly wouldn't surprise me all that much. I broke a side marker light on my car and ordered a replacement from the dealer. The original part was clearly marked Made in USA but the replacement light, in a sealed GM bag, had Made in China stamped on the back.

There is never any telling where parts are coming from now-a-days, granted it wasn’t an engine or any other major component, but a while back I had ordered a steering wheel emblem from a Holden Manaro and of course had to pay overseas shipping, thinking no doubt since it’s coming from Australia, but you can’t imagine my surprise when the package came from South Korea instead.

I would believe it more if they said it was a Comp Cam.

CashDudeHomie bring a legitimate point to the table there.

I would like to know if they really did have camshafts manufactured in China myself. If this story really has any merit, I find it difficult to believe that numerous improperly treated batches of cams made it into engines; there is quality control for these sorts of things, you know.
