Ive been looking for a truck for a while now (its hard to find a single/short 5.3) and saw a gmc stepside - looks pretty good. just wondering if the bed is fiberglass or what, and if it is substancially lighter. if you have weight figures please post them.
thanks

I have a 2000 Silverado Stepside and the bed fenders are a fiberglass composite material. It's a 4x4 and I believe it weighs just a little over 4000 lbs. Click link below for a few pictures.

It would seem to me that they would be fairly close in weight because the stepside still has a steel bed. and a little more metal under the "steps" than the fleetside. If anyone that has a 4.8 fleetside ext cab LS model 2wd, post the weight and I will look up my stepside weight when I get home tonight.
