Default Starting without balancer

Will it hurt the motor if I start it without the blancer on?

I just put this motor together and Im kinda nervous about the cam not beign timed right and having to pull the balancer off again and move the cam if it wont run. So I was thinking if it wont be a big deal Id quick and fire it without the balancer and shut it right off then throw the balancer on?

Otherwise I'll put the balancer on first and worry about it after if its not timed right, Id rather pull the balancer again than the motor.

I personally wouldn't do it. They are internally balanced but its still not called a harmonic balancer for nothing.

Yea I'll just put it on, if I need to take it off I'll just be out the money for the bolt and a little bit of my time.

wont hurt anything at all. it will spit a little oil out though. i would personally be more worried about bending valves if it isn't timed right.

Well you can check for valve interference by just turning it by hand. If the balancer isn't on and I was wanting to double check the timing marks I'd do just the a few bolts away from getting the front cover back off and checking it again.
