Starter grinds, replaced starter, new starter gear got caught on flywheel

*****Update on page 3******
About a month ago my starter started grinding intermittently when I went to start it. I asumed it was the starter gear grinding on the flywheel. I really needed a running vehicle since my camaro was down. I went to autozone and picked up a replacement, installed it and tested it out. After a day it started grinding again. Drove the truck the next day. At a turn, I kinda floored it to fishtale a bit and I'm assuming the starter gear got caught on the flywheel because there was a loud squealing noise and when I turned the truck off the starter just kept grinding on every attempt. Any ideas why this happened? Is my flywheel f*cked?

The Flywheel may very well be toast too, usually once the starter starts grinding the flywheel teeth are shot also. I agree that the AutoZone remans are crap though, as are most of their electrical remans.

Well I checked the flywheel through the peek hole for possible damage. Everything looked fine.

So I took out the stater to take a peek there.

Atleast i'll finally have a reason to stall the truck
