Which stall for towing - Yank, Vig, Hughes?
#1
Looking for a mild stall (2500-2600) converter that will still give me full towing capability, but a little more oomph for my blown 5.3L. I've heard good things about both Yanks and Vig's, but only a little about Hughes. Anyone have suggestions?

Yank's Truck Thruster 2600 and 3000 are rated for full towing capacity. They're everyone here's favorite. If you're like alot of people, the 2600 won't be enough when you get it. The 3000 is perfect for streetability IMO.

I agree, I have the Yank TT3000 and I love it. I knocked about 4-5 tenths off my ET, just as everyone said it would. With that being said, even though they rate it at full towing capcity, I don't think I would want to tow anything even near "full capacity" on a regular basis with this converter. If you plan on towing say a race car back and forth to the track on a weekly basis, I would not go for the TT3000. I think it would build too much heat in the trans. and after a while it would take its toll on the trans. Thats just my .02, as I haven't really transported much more then a couple of dirt bikes and about 600lbs of people at one time. I just think the 3000 is a little much for towing on a REGULAR basis, especially if its something over 3 or 4K lbs.

Oh, also, if you have 2wd, traction on the street becomes a big issue with the TT3000. Its kinda like you need to re-learn how to launch the truck without blowing the tires off of it.

I concur with Black Blown. I'd do the TT3000, that's what I'd get for sure. 2600rpm isn't enough once you've tried stall out.
If you do plan to tow a lot, get a BIG B&M cooler, TransGo, and at least that billet OD servo to hold everthing together.
