Wow, please report back how you like it after a few thousand miles! At what rpm does the TB converter stall in your truck?

It appears to be stalling about 2400-2500 where the original one was like 1700. I big difference over the original one as far as seat of the pants feel goes. Liking it a whole lot.

Default Thinking about gearing

While I'm driving around I'm thinking about gearing and what would suit my truck and driving best. Interestingly, I just did a 15 lap stock car driving event at a local short track, and noted that the car wasn't geared for the track at all. By the time the motor was getting happy, it was time to lift a and brake for the corner.

So, I'd like some feedback from guys with 4 series gears. What size tires, what type of driving and on what kind of roads, what kind of cruising rpm at highway speeds during freeway driving, and what effect on your fuel mileage if you made a gear change. Also, if you did make a gear change, what gears did you start with?

Based on my past experience with hot rods, I'm pretty much leaning towards 3.73, but the car I had with those gears had much shorter tires, so the same gears in this truck would be completely different!

This thread should probably be in a different forum than engine/exhaust performance at this point, but.....

I have 3.73 gears and 245/75-16 tires. I towed my boat for the first time this weekend after all the changes and it towed great, especially using the Tow/Haul mode but it would even tow well no using that mode. I'm happy with the changes so far.

At the very least get 3.90 gears, I would get 4.11 or 4.56. I have a Trailblazer SS that came with 4.11 and a 31" when I put my drag pack on I went to a 28" drag radial. I drive it everyday with that gearing and a Yank SS3600 stall converter. Your truck won't be as bad because you will be running a taller tire, but a 4.11 gears and 2500 to 2800 stall shouldn't even scare you a little.

It was a probuilt automatics stage 1.5 kit, with a stock engine.
I recently added a TB converter ..had the 60e rebuilt... I'm very happy with the converter !... i was surprised with the difference it made.. should also go well with a cam swap as well.
