Default SS3800 FLP level4 first impressions.

First, the FLP--the shifts are firm and quick, about as good as shifts in an auto can feel. Converter clutch lockup is much improved. The stock trans took a second or so to fully engage, the FLP just slams in like another gear. Nice. The vacuum modulated line pressure control shifts softer at very light throttle instead of barking the tires like my stocker did in a parking lot doing 10mph.

The SS3800-- Stop and go driving it takes 2000-2500 rpm to get going with normal traffic at a stoplight. The TT3000 took 1500-2000.This took me a little while to get used to. It took me 30 seconds to get used to the TT3000, and 20 minutes to get used to the SS3800.If you have a loud exhaust, it makes it hard to stay in stealth mode.

I havent gone WOT yet because my stock trans is still in the bed. I'll have to go wrestle that out so I can give you some stall, shift extension, and performance impressions.

Went out and nailed it........Holy sh--!!

If the TT3000 was twice as good with the ATI as the stock stall, then the SS3800 is 10 times better than stock!

The launch is amazing, it now pulls enough weight off the front wheels(4wd) to just spin all 4 a little, then settles back down and hooks. My garage door opener shot out of the roof storage spot and smacked the back window!

Flash stall in 4wd is about 4200rpm.

With shift points at 5800, the shift extension is about 5200 on the 1-2 and 2-3

My boost goes from 8psi at the bottom of a shift to 11psi at the top. This compared to about 4psi at the bottom of a shift with the TT3000.(side note, my new intake setup seems to have solved my boost leak. Seeing 1 more psi on top now. No sign of belt slip!)

With the new shift extension, it feels like what I think a radix or whipple would feel like. Just hard steady acceleration, instead of a rush...then wait...then a rush...then wait.

Recorded a max trans temp of 165 with 5-6 WOT runs.

The FLP is performing flawlessly.

Gotta get some G-Tech times, but I have some exhaust leaks I have to fix at my flanges that appeared after they had to come out for the trans. I don't trust the wideband with all the leaks. Don't wanna beat on it anymore till I can totally trust the wideband.

great news, the ss3800 sounds prety nice from what everyone is saying about it.

i hope i ordered the right converter, i have a py3400e on the way, alot of people that get it dont like it(too tight) but it came highly recomended by mike at yank and patrick G, say it will be great on a big shot and i plan on hiting it with a 200+shot soon. what more can i do than ask the experts and follow their advice

sounds like you have just what the ATI guys have needed all along. i am waiting impatiently for some gtech times!

With that large shot, the converter is going to flash stall pretty hardcore. Maybe around 4000rpms or so.

What's the diameter and Stall Torque Ratio of it?

Cool about a 10" converter. I think that higher STR is going to help that loosness you may encounter with that small diameter. But that smaller diameter is going to give you a more efficient converter too.

Is it a single of multi lockup clutch?

The tighter converters are better for a BIG shot, but from what I've heard, a 200 shot would be too much for a SS3800. It gets to the point where all the extra torque that nitrous makes just runs right through the converter and lets it slip too much and doesn't transmit the whole shot to the wheels.

Mike at Yank said that I could run a 100 shot but not much more with my application.
