yep, 365 miles on the clock and I put it on the dyno

I don't think I've seen anyone put up stock dyno numbers before on an SS. It was pretty easy to remove the front driveshaft, took about 15 minutes and it was ready to go.

ran it 4 times, twice in 2nd gear and twice in 3rd gear. in 3rd it would dyno about 25-30hp/tq higher for whatever reason , but wouldn't get a full run because of the limiter. it would hit the governor around 105mph so it would shutdown at around 4700rpms, so the results are a little bit guessing. the best full 2nd gear dyno was 263rwhp.

so, we calculated about 290ish rwhp. Tq was 319@about 3900rpm.

i'll post the graph when I can and it will be obvious what I'm talking about if you can't make sense of it

nice, 290rwhp thru an auto and a tcase wouldn't that be something like 400fly wheel hp?

 

Since it was only turning the yoke for the front drive shaft, I wouldnt think it would make much difference. They are rated 340hp factory right? So 290hp would be about right.

 

3rd gear pull should yield more power than a 2nd gear pull on any transmission since 3rd is the 1/1 gearing. sounds like an awesome trucks. have fun with it!

ya, I would guess it would loose a little bit more through the transfer case even with the front driveshaft removed....

it all depends on how much drive line loss you want to figure, even without the front shaft or diferential you still have the internals of the tcase, tranny, rear, and those heavy 20" rims. i have seen people use as high as 30% loss for a figure and that would put the fly wheel hp at 414hp.

this brings up a good question, what is the going asumtion for driveline loss on our trucks?

 

Wow, thats great. My truck really started feeling better after I had a couple thousand miles on it. I'm sure it will breat in and free up a fre more horses. 263 in 2nd is good. The dyno is best done in 3rd gear because of the transmissions 1:1 ratio. When in 2nd, or first, the gearing effect of the transmission will throw off numbers. Same thing with having 4.10 gears. Those with 3.42 gears will dyno higher than with 4.10s.

I need to get a couple of minor things corrected on my truck, then I'm going to get mine dyno'd. I'm sure glad you did it stock, so we all have a loose baseline to compare against.

I would assume 20% for the 4L65E, a few more for the heavy *** 78lb wheels and transfer case.

maybe 22-23%????


what are these rated at stock anyway??? 345? I'd definately say GM underrated again!

 

I'll get more accurate numbers when I get LS1edit tuning done. I think that will be my 1st mod. I've heard GREAT results from it.
