Default Spun main. Machine Shop or Swap

Hey guys im in a bind. Just got my 900hp 80e built and spun main bearing on cammed LQ9. It was at low speed when this happen. Actually trans builder was going in reverse when this happend. Turns out Oil Pump failed amd caused this to happen engine locked up. Builder checked lifters, springs, pistons all good. Crank wouldnt turn until bearing was removed. So now im not sure if i need to take it to the machine shop or no. If so should i or should i just find another engine whats the best move. Not really looming into borong the engine or nothing. Anybody know prices machine shop charges?

Depends on how bad the damage is to the block. If it's discolored and scared real bad, It's junk. You will have to get a new block.

If there is hardly any wear in the bore, They can clean it up with a line hone.

I can't see the damage. But to answer your question, Yes. The line bore will need to be checked.

That does not mean it needs to be bored out.

If it's easier to slap back together for you at $1200 then do that. Who's paying for the repair?

I am more than capable of building one from scratch, so if the block is still good I disassemble and have the machine shop look at it first and fix if possible. If not or more to fix than a replacement, I get a replacement.

$1200 to repair the block??? That's insane!!!

If the line bore needs a clean up it shouldn't run more than like $150.

If your not tearing it down and there doing it, then that could be why its so high.
