Spun bearing after procharger install
#1
Well I am pretty sick to my stomach right now. I installed my d1 procharger, gauges, and blackbear tune this week. Truck (2011 6.2 Silverado 39k miles) started and idled fine. I took it around the block last night and never went above 3/4 throttle and just rolled into it. Truck pulled hard boost stayed below 8psi and air to fuel was a tad rich. On the last road before my house I did one more 3/4 throttle run up to about 90 and when I let off I heard a bad tapping. I thought I blew a belt and it was flinging around but when I pulled it in garage I could defiantly hear it was motor noise. Extreme bad rod knock. I'm guessing it spun a bearing but I am at a complete loss on how.
So any sure way to check? I was thinking about dropping the pan and inspecting what I could. All I've been thinking is wow this is going to be expensive. If it did spin a bearing what all is usually trashed and what can be re used?

Had the same thing happen to me when I installed my turbo. Checked everything. Couldn't find the problem. Tore apart block and found 7 of 8 rods bent. Those powder metal rods are junk. Never went over 4psi. Now it's honed and forged 416ci. Good luck with yours. Hopefully it's something inexpensive.
Piston slap - not my pic but this is what my rods looked like.

Man that really sucks. It's hard to know exactly what may be wrong. I would do all that was suggested above. Inspect the valvetrain, check the oil for metal shavings, and the final part would be to pull the heads and take a look at the pistons.
