Speartech LS2/6L80E swap!

Seat of the pants it feels like a rocket. Pulls pretty hard in first and second but doesn't feel like it has full power until third. Things start to get interesting then. I haven't had time to take it to the track yet but I raced against my car and it comes out of the hole better with the deep first gear and AWD but by the time I get to the top of first gear my car has already caught me and then keeps on pulling me. I suspect it will run a little over 100 in the quarter.
I do have a few pictures, nothing on a lift though and nothing really exciting because the truck motors aren't much to look at.
No dedicated thread but a few others that talk about the project overall. John has the most knowledge on how to make this whole thing work.

Hello, I have a 2007 New Body Style Silverado 4.8L with the 4 speed automatic Reg. Cab short bed with the locking diff.. I would like to swap the 4.8L and the automatic transmission for the 2007 2WD Escalade 6.2L L92 engine part#19165485 and the 6 speed transmission automatic. The 6.2L has the VVT and the 4.8L does not. Can the ECM in my Silverado be programmed to run the 6.2L with the VVT and 6 speed transmission and if the ECM can be programed what I would need is a modified driveshft and a reprogrammed ECM to make this project work or is there anything else I'm missing?

That was my plan also but a busted cooler line later and it was time to move the swap to the top of my "to-do" list. That's the way it goes sometimes though.

Your existing E38 controller will support the VVT option as well as interfacing with the 6L80E. If you want to get really crazy you can add the AFM from a 5.3 or 6.0 to your L92 and program that into your ECM. Yes you will likely need to buy a new longer driveshaft. The pieces you are missing is the modified electrical harness to connect the 6L80E since it is different than the 4L60E. An unknown at this point is whether or not the 6L80 will display the current gear selection and trans temp information or if a new cluster from something like a Denali would be required.

I am planning on getting a drop out engine and trans combo just like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2007-...QQcmdZViewItem
It has the harness and all front acc., but the one I want is the 2WD version. Let me know what you think?

Do you know if the output shaft on the 6 speed trans the same as the 4l60E, if not then I have to get the right yoke. Would the ECM that comes with the engine just require changing the vin # or do you think it requires other programing? The harness is not cut so I guess it just plugs into the fuse box.

I don't think you need to enter a new vin but you will need the base info for the new engine and transmission.
