"Spark" in Plug Wires
#11
I've seen this many times on engines with headers...the heat from the header melts the wire and the spark goes to the path of least resistance, which is the header primary. I just diagnosed a friend of a friend's misfire with the same exact problem on a big block Malibu this past weekend. You've already ordered new wires, but maybe some of those heat sleeves would be a good idea also...

Did you notice the misfire from it?
Years ago I was looking at my engine as it was running one night. I was using a manual choke at that time and the cable was very close to all the wires on the left bank. It was showing a bluish light from the electric field between the cable and the four wires...not a spark jump, but an effect. Moving the cable away from the wires had no effect on the way the engine was running.

I did not see any missfire even though I looked for it. This past weekend I replaced the wires on my 02 Z06, they are a little shorter and the OHM difference was evident like ~ 230 ohms average to less then 30 OHMs!
