I found a LS1 (2000) short block (pistons and crank. The studs do not come with it. Sleeves look great.) Local for $450 asking price.
Deal or no deal?

If it is mint then go for it. The main bolts you are tlaking about arent a big deal. I would put some good ARPs in there anyway.

It could be an ok deal if its in great shape. You can get stock LS1 heads for @ $100-150 pretty easy.

Has 2 bad rings. I guess I'm not really sure if I want to do an engine swap and if going with S/C setup on a 5.7 forged engine is enough to justify the cost.

FYI, I got my 6.0 shortblock that was "fried" for like 500 shipped to my door. Bigger teh cubes the harder that radix is going to have to breathe, or you could get a 122.

Sounds good bro... I would go for it. I would say go 6.0, but I know you want to stay aluminum. Would you be doing a 383 or 346?

To keep the Radix in it's best enviroment I think I would have to stay stock LS1 stroke 5.7L.
I love my S/C and even though a 383 is really what I'd like to build I think I'd have to lose the maggie or upgrade it for that to work. Then the drive train will need serious attention.
5.7 with S/C will put me a little over 500hp but my power band should be wider than the 5.3, right?
