Default Some questions about the egr mods...

Ya'll know that egr mod were you can get a thin piece aluminum and drill a small hole in the center and put it like a gasket in between the EGR connection on the passenger-side header.(My English Teacher would kick my *** for that!)

Has anyone here done this mod? If so, what were your results, if any?

What size drill to use on the hole?

Would this make the motor run just a little bit leaner as far as air to fuel ratios go? (The reason I ask is, it seems like by restricting some of the exhaust from going back into the intake, it would allow more fresher/oxygen-rich air in)

When doing the other EGR mod, that requires the tube inside the intake to be cut, how much to cut off?

Do these mods throw a code or cause an SES light to come on?

Sorry for all the questions! Thanks in advance

The light will come on if you do the plate wrong. It's an easy fix if it does, just take it off and drill it one size larger. Also, once you take out the side from the intake, you'll see a ridge. Just use that as your guide.

Thanks guys.

I'm thinking about just waiting on this until I go back to Futral for my head swap and then just have Allan delete the egr.

If the EGR was deleted with LS1 Edit, couldn't I just cut the tube as short as possible and block it off all together with a peice of aluminum?

I was going to to this also, but never got around to it. With my next tune, I'll probably get the EGR deleted and just block it off. As for the restriction mod, I could swear www.ls1howto.com had a write up on it, but all I could find is: http://www.ls1.com/link_egr.html, where they cut the EGR tubing.
