Just leave the heads alone for now dude... Concentrate on the basic stuff. Get your gears, LT's, converter, cam/springs, and a new tune and I bet you will have more power than you will know what to do with for now. Head are a PITA to remove and replace(R&R), plus youll need new bolts and gaskets and now your at about $200 for mabye 10hp and the headache of doing the job.

The performance world has no room for torque management. I'll tell you what, go to a track and race someone with the same truck and someone else's tune. You'll get beat.

I'm running a shift kit with the stock stall, and the trans has over 120K miles on it. A lot of it has to do with the tune.

The guy that was talking about the shift kit . . . . he was just pissed that he was getting beat by an old guy, and that his truck was slow that night

Jesse is a Quack... I've said it before and I'll say it again... I wish I had the log of my truck when I first hooked it up to HPT after he tuned it 4 or 5 times!!!!! it looked terrible. I had no power, and even worse gas mileage.... have it tuned in person.

Keep in mind you will also need a set of head gaskets and bolts or studs.

Milling the heads will give you more power, but if it's worth the money/trouble is up to you. I will say there is more power to be had on a stock truck than milling the heads though.

Shift kits work! Hve him return the trans settings to stock and put the shift kit in. Get the TransGo kit though, don't mess around with the others. You might also have a set of servos put in as well. If you do both the shift kit and the servos, you should have all of the TQM removed. It won't be needed anymore. Install the shift kit conservatively and the tranny will last just as long or longer than it would before.

8-30 rwhp on the headers ... I won't go there. I have nothing beneficial to say about htat.
