Slp Cai ..ram Air...mpg????
#1
I have a SLP CAI and seen that there is a hole in the bottome of the air box
I was thinking of put a dryer hose from there down to the tow hook.
do you think this will gain any MPG?
Volant offers a ram air tube but i dont know if the hole will line up with the tube
any comments would be great
thanks

I doubt that you'll notice any gain, either in hp or mpg, but it couldn't hurt to have cool air coming in from the lower front valance. I have the Volant w/ ram air...I don't think that the scoop does much but it's kinda cool I guess

WEll some more results
I went on vacation 800 mile round trip
i gained 1.8mpg on the highway ...72 mph
i think i will keep this mod
1 mpg gain on local driving
1.8 highway
i had a full tank drove home 400 miles and still had 1/4 tank...I made this same trip a month ago without the dryer hose and had less than a 1/8th tank left

I got a volant CAI and I bought it w/o the ram air set up and went to home depot and used the same set up and you with 4" dryer duct...I had bought a scoop from another member and removed my tow hook and put it there...cant say its a SOTP difference but I went and had my truck tuned by a friend and the IAT are much lower than my friends truck with a K&N FIPK open element filter with a ram air hood!...my temps on average were 5 degrees cooler than his and I was about 1-3 degrees cooler than ambient and it would cool off in about a mile...
So I then blocked off the inside of the volant box where it draws air from the fender with tape...I drove home(220 miles) and I took the lid off and the tape was blown off...so I def. think its worth the fact that your setup is more efficient...
