1) I don't think it would be enough to worry about. I wonder if the battery would hold up without the alt. spinning.

2) I would love to be below 4000 lbs. and think it is absolutely possible. I'm at 4300 right now. Here are some ideas. <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />
</font>
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">!tailgate</font></li>
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">!rear bumper(rollpan instead)</font></li>
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">!front bumper(fiberglass bumper)</font></li>
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">!60/40 split seat(race seat instead)</font></li>
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">!front sway bar</font></li>
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">!spare/jack</font></li>
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">lightweight battery</font></li>
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">pin on hood</font></li>
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">top secret bed modification <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /></font></li>
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">lightweight streetable drag rims(bogarts) worth more than the actual weight difference <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /></font></li>
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">!gas tank(fuel cell instead)</font></li>
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">3) I will be putting an ARE 422 Solid roller motor in the truck whenever I get it. Immediate goals will be 11.XX @ 1-teens. I will eventually be shooting for a little quicker times though. <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

You know, I have been seeing front bumper mentioned a few times. Hows this for an idea. Take the upper bumper cover and buy a lower like a Xenon or something. Then fasten the two together and make an aluminum skeleton to help support it and mount it. I was thinking of something like this down the road.

One other weight reduction item.

  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Aluminum block(either C5R <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> or resleeved LS1/6) I can't afford a C5R block and will not take the chance of getting a resleeved leaker. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /></font></li>
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Greg - I'm going to get the aluminum conversion kit for my Lincoln mig pak 100 welder...since aluminum is so much lighter than steel. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Default Slow day, let's brainstorm

1. How much gain do you think you will see if you run just the crank belt for the water pump.

2. What is the most you would take out of your truck (wieght savings) to run at the track.

3. Will you be putting another engine in your truck and what size and expectations ? (not I would LIKE TO but I definatly WILL answers)

Personaly, some time down the road I'm gonna put an LS6 405HP into my truck. Hopefuly it will work!

Well, here goes...

(1) A buddy of mine runs a short belt on his '01 Z28. He did pick up some ET, but not sure how much. I'll ask him!

(2) None (although a little Weight Watchers might help as I'm pushing 3 hun...)

(3) No definite swap...if I were doing a swap it would be to an aluminum block motor and not an iron 6.0L.
