1. Maybe .05???
2. The only thing I *might* take out is all the empty beer bottles, shotgun shells and maybe wash off the ~100 pounds of mud that is caked on the undercarriage.
3. No new engine (unless this one blows ).

Re: Slow day, let's brainstorm
I doubt I'd run a short belt. If I had one, I might do it at the track, but I won't buy one (unless I am like 13.08 and want a 12 second slip or something like that).
If I am going for a good time at the track, I'd be tempted to pull the rear bumper, pass seat, tailgate, toolbox, speaker box, ... basically anything thats real heavy and unneeded, or removes easily. The front bumper is a biaaatch, so I won't be touching that. I'd even consider getting a jockey- I weigh 250.
I thought about a swap. Even bought a 6 liter. But thats not gonna happen. I've decided to take the 5.3 a little further. Now if something happens to the 5.3, then I will have a 6.0 under the hood.

If you 200+ pound guys want an extra 1/10th... I can do it for free! I weigh about 135 lol, and I have no prob racing trucks
As for me... I am keeping this engine for at least another 2 years, and just removing tailgate for the track.

Re: Slow day, let's brainstorm
1) Wouldnt bother, I think its worth maybe 10 hp
2) 1000lbs, everything i could. dash 3rd brake light a/c carpet motors for electric window stereo you name it, my girlfriend spare tire/ jack rear bumper so on and so forth.
3) I would stick to something basic. A caddy 6.0 with heads, cam, and my s/c. (Unfortunatly we are not all HiHO ****** who have tons of $$$$$ for everything, so i have to wait on that motor.)

Re: Slow day, let's brainstorm
1.) Not sure, but if any of you test it and find out i'll be happy to thank you for your time and possibly use this mod in the future
2.) if it isn't necissary to get to, or drive down the track... if it isnt a PAIN to take off... if it weighs more than 5lbs... I'd take it off to get that extra 1/10
3.) No DEFINATE plans in the futre as I love to change my mind on a daily basis. As of now, transmission is the next in line (except for maybe new rod bolts/fuel pump if needed). After tranny is strong enough for more power some engine based on a 6.0L with forged pistons will be the next mod. (then i'll finally be able to up the 150 shot up to a REAL nitrous shot at the track.) But.. at my jobless(for now) college income level this will take a while But i do have enough money stashed away in my "OOPS!" fund to be able to put in a stock 6.0L or to do a performance rebuild on the tranny if the need arises
damn... that turned out longer than i expected lol

Re: Slow day, let's brainstorm
Right now all I'm planning is keeping the 5.3. Milling the heads say .030, and getting a three angle valve job done. Getting the comp cam 206/212 .515/.522 112LSA. Then finding some LS1 fans and a MAF Translator. Don't plan any weight savings. That's about it till next year or so.
